Only came for the chocolate cake because it got really great reviews from a couple friends of mine so I can't speak to the rest of the menu but the chocolate cake was AMAZING!!! And the service was great too: very friendly even though we were doing a quick take-out. I would definitely return to Hook, hopefully next time to sit down for dinner and have some real food. But either way, I will absolutely be getting the cake again.

Went by on a Sunday; they were probably busy for lunch. Our server was polite, but a bit forgetful and when the food arrive it wasn't what I expected. However, it wasn't bad... I'd go again. The restaurant has a great homely feel to it. An 8.7 out of 10.

Had the seafood pasta, wife had the blackened chicken sandwich and my son got the shrimp and fries... Everything was great and the service was top notch. Will be making this a regular stop on our travels through this area.

This is the best pasta and seafood restaurant in the area. The seafood pasta is a sensual mix of seafood broth, citrus and butter; not oily at all. Light on the pallete. Lucious crab meat, delicately cooked shrimp, mushroom, and tiny sweet tomatoes finish this delightfully splendid dish. The blackened shrimp risotto is allso a winner at this eatery. The waitstaff is accommodatimg and not overbearing. This restaurant is sweet, casual, classy, and yummy.

really nice lunch for my mom's birthday. we ate outside and there was gorgeous weather, yummy food, and friendly service from William. started with fried green tomatoes with crab, and had entrees of oyster Rockefeller poboy, fish and chips, Thai shrimp poboy, blackened chicken w/green tomatoes, and he'll cheese for the little girls... everything was yummy.

Took my parents there when they were visiting from out of town. We had been to at least 6 different restaurants over the course of 7 days. This was their favorite by far. My dad, a man of few words, raved about their steak and eggs. I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and briny and the grits were some of the most flavorful I'd ever had. Plus, they make all their desserts in house. It's always fun to try one of their unique cake offerings. The mocha cake was a favorite of my husband. All in all, this is a solid restaurant with lovely coastal theme that is sure to please even the most picky family members.

This review is from a lunch we had. Really good bbq shrimp po boy made with tender, fresh tasting large shrimp sautéed in a spicy bbq butter. The bread was a fresh baguette as it should be. The blackened chicken/fried green tomato sandwich was very good also. Tender well seasoned chicken and hot fried green tomatoes on top. Both were very large and not over priced. Nice atmosphere and super service. Wine, beer and full bar. I would absolutely eat hear often if I lived near.

Excellent American seafood restaurant. Had the fish special with the risotto (**** 1/2 stars) risotto was a little salty and I prefer mine a tad more alienate but excellent pan seared grouper. Service was excellent on group of eight. Seating was nice in the large table to the back. Will definielty be back again.

Terrific local bistro that may be the best restaurant on the coast. Every dish is a treat.

My wife and I went with 2 other couples, all of whom had been before - our first visit. It was pretty darned good food. The only slight hiccup was that they were out of 2-3 various ingredients (it eliminated one appetizer choice and one entree choice), but gave us a couple of free desserts to make up for it. Everyone enjoyed their meal - the table shared 3 appetizers, we had 6 entrees (4 different) and shared the 2 desserts, and everyone agreed that everything was good. One thing we noticed is that it seems to be an early crowd - we were the last party there at 9:15. They didn't rush us in the least - we were in the back room and we didn't realize we were the last people there until we left. One other thing - they do offer seating outside, but it is "under roof" and there is no real view (it isn't ugly, it just isn't a view). Sun or rain wouldn't effect it, but temperature would - I'd suggest using the temperature as the guide, not the sky conditions.

A really great meal (4.5 stars) was ruined ... I guess we overstayed our welcome. At 9 pm, after a wonderful meal of wine, appetizers, entrees and desserts, we smelled the strong odor of cigarette smoke! It was one of the employees!!! We realized we were the only diners left. A very effective tactic.... We left right away and don't plan to come again.

The Seafood Pasta and Seafood Platter were excellent. However, I do have some constructive criticism: I sent an email addressing hours of operation - no response after 2 days; the waitress did not tell us about the specials; there was no bread and/or small side salad with the entree; only two desserts were ready for lunch and they were still making them; and I left hungry.

i had a really nice dinner here the other night. we came around 6pm on a friday night and had no trouble being seated immediately. the restaurant did have a steady flow of people during our meal though, so looks like they're doing good business. it's not huge inside, but there is outdoor seating in case the inside gets too packed. my family ordered the bbq shrimp ($8) as an appetizer. delicious! the french bread was toasted and buttery and it was a good portion to get a taste, but not get too full. very rich so good to split! for dinner, i ordered the crawfish & crab pasta. it was AMAZING. they didn't skimp on the fish at all. it is relatively rich, as it is a cream-based sauce, but it wasn't too heavy. i saved some for lunch the next day and it reheated well in the microwave. my mom had the stuffed shrimp on risotto. the risotto was light and creamy - really nice. my dad had the fried chicken salad. can't go wrong there. our shrimp entrees were served with salads to start. they were nice and simple. it was good to have greens to offset my creamy pasta! i'll definitely come back the next time i visit the coast!

Just had dinner at Hook. The first thing I noticed was that the waitstaff seemed very stressed out, not welcoming..like maybe they wanted to go home and then we showed up!! We asked to be seated outside where the temperature and Gulf breeze were so, so pleasant, not requiring the fan that was oscillating over our heads. I asked our server if she could turn off the fan. She said they had had another request to turn off the fans earlier, but "the manager wanted them on.". I thought to myself, I don't see the manager out here with a fan blowing on his head, but I opted not to take it any further. On to the food..our Oyster Rockefeller appetizer was very good and our salads, Wedge and Caesar were also very tasty. Unfortunately, the lack of hospitality trumped the quality of the food. Hopefully this was an aberration...will give it another try based on the food and location.

Great food, service, and local atmosphere. Parmesan Chicken is the best thing on the menu. Thanks for opening and helping revitalize downtown PC. I'll visit as often as I can to support our local businesses.

This place is fantastic! My fiancée an I were visiting the coast and we ate here twice because it was so good! The service is friendly and the food speaks for itself. I would recommend it hands down! We're from Atlanta, a great food town, and this place could compete with anything up there!

Food was decent the risotto is terrible no seasoning and tastes as if they used mozzarella cheese which is a no no. The drink called sazerac taste like cough syrup. The French 76 tasted great! The fish is nicely cooked. But make sure you tell them if you wanted it healthy aka not fried or they just fry everything (wonder why this state has an obesity problem....).

Top notch for food, very reasonable drink prices, easy parking, great service. Here are my grades: Salads and bread: B+ homemade and fresh. Drinks: A- great selection of beers, non alcoholic fare, and wine at modest prices. Gumbo: A- not the best ever but more than solid. Not thick even with fresh okra. Tuna carpaccio: A- served on toasted slivers of homemade bread with salty wasabi Seared tuna: B+ generous portions, served rare as ordered, Thai spices Pork chop with crab stuffing on spinach: a solid A. It was our top choice and their special that evening. Sounds heavy but it was actually light and flavorful. Hummingbird cake: c+ the only disappointment and we knew better because NEVER order cake when its the last piece in the container. More like a banana bread than a rich creme iced cake. Our bad and we should have opted for bread pudding. Oh, this just in......3 appetizers, 3 entrees, 4 beers, 1 desert.....$99 + tip! It's a deal. I'd recommend it in a flash. Much better than the usual Mississippi fried everything menu in a very attractive new restaurant worth a visit.

Our table for ten had a terrific dining experience last night. The fresh catch triple tail special was a big hit among several in our party and my 12 oz ribeye was cooked to perfection. My husband I dine here often and can say that we have never had a disappointing meal at Hook. Our server Taylor provided friendly and attentive service throughout. We had a few first-timers with us and I am sure they will return. This is a very nice casual, friendly restaurant with a varied menu that should please anyone.

What a perfect spot to have the best fresh seafood so far on our trip through Texas, Louisiana and Alabama. Stopped for lunch and had perfectly cooked blacked shrimp, grilled tilapia, and fried oysters with excellent cole slaw. We shared the platter, and wished we had more. Great spot, which must be new, as it was spotless, and we were glad we found it.

The menu showcases fresh seafood from the neighboring market with upscale flavors and presentation. Prices are not bad considering the brand new unique build-out of the restaurant.
